Costa Rica’s Dream Run Ends, Netherlands in Semis

Giant killer Costa Rica’s dream World Cup run came to an end, as they lost to mighty Netherlands in a thrilling quarterfinal match, but not before giving a tough fight. The result was decided in a penalty shootout.

FIFA-World-CupNetherlands became the fourth and last team to enter the semifinals of 2014 FIFA World Cup. They will take on Argentina. In the first semifinal, Brzail will take on Germany. The match between Netherlands and Costa Rica ended 0-0 even after the extra time.

In the penalty shootout, Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul, who came as a substitute in the final minute of extra time, saved two penalties to hand over a 4-3 victory to his team over Costa Rica. Krul saved spot kicks from Costa Rica captain Bryan Ruiz and Michael Umana. Coach Van Gaal was on the moon after his strategy paid off in a very crucial match.
