TNI Bureau: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik slammed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over farmers’ issue demanding Rs 300 per quintal as compensation for the poor paddy farmers.
Addressing a rally at lower PMG square in Bhubaneswar today, Patnaik said that Odisha mostly depends on agriculture. However, its farmers are facing huge losses due to lack of rain in the state this year. The agriculture has been badly affected. However, the Chief Minister is not providing the farmers the compensations for the loss.
The issue, which has been rocking the House since the beginning of the winter session of the assembly, the Odisha Congress chief highlighted the issue at the rally.
Patnaik alleged that the CM has ignored the farmers in 12 years of rule. Among the leaders, who had joined Patnaik at the rally, were Opposition leader Bhupinder Singh, Congress leaders Kanhu Charan Lenka, Prakash Chandra Devata, Soumyaranjan Patnaik, Sitakant Mohapatra, Sreebalhav Panigrahi, Anant Prasad Sethi and Umesh Swain.
