TNI Bureau: In order to deny any political mileage to the Opposition from the gangrape protests across the country, the Congress Party has proposed a tougher law to check crime against women, which includes punishment of chemical castration of the rapists in rare cases.

The final draft of the Congress’ bill also proposed up to 30 years jail term for the rape convicts and setting up of fast track courts to decide the cases within three months.
The chemical castration provision is prevalent in many other countries. It had helped to check the crime against the women to a great extent.
