TNI Bureau: Both Congress and Keshubhai Patel’s Gujarat Parivartan Party are trying their best to win the Gujarat assembly polls to oust Narendra Modi by giving tickets to key candidates, who can get sympathy votes. Congress has fielded suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s wife Shweta Bhatt against Modi for the upcoming polls.
Shweta will contest the polls from Maninagar constituency. Modi will have to face many difficulties to win the poll as many people are there, who are against him after the Gujarat riots. She filed the nomination from Maninagar today.
IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s wife could be used as weapon against Modi as Mr Bhaat had alleged Modi of playing a key role in the 2002 Gujarat riots. Bhatt has been chargesheeted along with six policemen in the 1990 Khambalia custodial death case on November 9. However, he alleged that he has been targeted by Modi.
Even Bhatt claims that evidence related to the 2002 Gujarat riots that can prove Modi’s role has been eliminated.
