TNI Bureau: Since the main opposition BJP is in no mood to run the Parliament smoothly, sources said that the government is likely to bring a confidence motion in Lok Sabha next week to show its majority.
The aggressive strategy of the government comes after the BJP stalled both the houses of Parliament over the coal blocks allocation. The government now wants to take on the opposition to show its place after the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was severely critiicsed for coal loss that occurred when he was in charge of the coal ministry.
However, the government has been defending saying that there was no loss; even Dr Singh questioned the CAG report saying the findings are clearly disputable. Before moving towards Parliament, he felt free to talk on the issue on Twitter. He said, “”Hazaron Jababo se achi hai meri khamoshi, na jane kitne sawalon ki abroo rakhi (my silence is better than thousands of answers)”.
Reacting to PM’s statement, BJP criticised him for blaming the state for the loss. BJP leader Sushma Swaraj slammed the government saying, the PM must take moral responsibility for the loss and quit.
Soon after press conference held by the BJP, Congress said that there is no question of cancelling coal blocks allocation and Manmohan Singh will not resign, but is ready with his defence in Parliamentary Accounts Committee.
Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari addressing the media said that except BJP, all the allies of NDA are open to debate the issue. He said that the government is ready for a debate, but the opposition is creating uproar in the houses.
Taking on the opposition, he said that if the government was responsible for the loss, it could have avoided for the debate. But here the government is ready, BJP seeks no debate, he added.
