CHILD SMILE organizes Awareness Programme for Children

By Himanshu Guru: CHILD SMILE, a NGO that works for children, organized an awareness program for children at Mission Compound, Balangir in Odisha on the eve of 66th Independence Day on August 15. Right to Child Protection and Right to Education were the topics of the program.

Chief Guest Mr.Sanjeeb Sing C.I., (Education) Balangir said ‘Right to Child Protection is a need of an hour’ and highlighted about the facilities that a child can avail in our country. Chief Speaker Dr.Bimal Kanta Nayak, Associate professor, University of Gondar, Ethiopia narrated the global steps regarding tackling of the problems related to children. Himanshu Guru, Guest of Honour told that children are the future citizens; hence they should be equipped properly for the sake of nation building.

Among the distinguished guests, Mr.Bibhuti Bhusan Bhoi told that ‘If a child is in distress and need help he/she can avail assistance by calling to ‘Child line’ on 1098 (from BSNL only) and within 60 minutes he will be rescued’. Mrs. Sailabasini Sagar, Manager of Compassion Hostel described about perils and solutions related to girl children in our country.

Miss.Dipti Mayee Nanda, the chief functionary of CHILD SMILE conducted different participatory activities related to Child Protection among the children. Around 150 students attended the event.

Mr. Asit Bag, Chief functionary of CHILDSMILE proposed the vote of thanks at the end. Mr. Sanjeeb Chhatria, Mrs. Jyotirmayee Nayak, Mr. Naresh Pradhan and Mr. Smruti Ranjan Chhatria organized the event.
