DEMU-ACIndian Railways has developed the first ever air conditioned coach (car) for its DEMU trains. Till now the existing DEMU trains consisted only of non-air conditioned coaches. The first ever AC coach has been manufactured at Indian Railways’ Chennai based Integral Coach Factory (ICF).

Existing 8-coach DEMU train will have 2 such newly developed AC coaches. Soon such DEMU trains will be rolled out for passenger services. Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has planned to roll out 4 DEMU train sets each provided with two AC coaches. Further manufacture of these trains will be based on the feedback from users.

These air conditioned coaches are provided with 5 comfortable reclining cushioned chairs arranged in each row(2*3 confg) with total capacity to seat 73 passengers. The interior furnishing of these AC coaches is similar to that of intercity AC express train coaches.
All AC coaches are equipped with environment friendly bio-toilets. Indian Railways presently run three type of DEMU trains namely: 6- coach DEMU train with 700 hp, 8- coach DEMU train with 1400 hp and 10- coach DEMU train with 1600 hp.

Anil-DaveMinister of State (Independent Charge) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Anil Madhav Dave, has strongly emphasised the need to adopt the three-fold ‘mantra’ of “Sun, Cycle and Saving” in the energy sector for clean and green energy.

Inaugurating the Conference on Clean & Green Transport for Delhi NCR – Alternatives and Solutions” here today, Dave said that solar energy is the energy of the future and Research & Development (R&D) needs to be done on solar energy, as it will revolutionise the energy sector.

The Minister advocated cycling as the best mode of transport for short distances and cited additional health benefits as another factor for adopting of cycling. Shri Dave also said that energy should not be used carelessly, as energy saved is energy produced. He added that individuals must lead by example in saving energy and also stated that non-practising environmentalists and non-practising scientists were not required.

The Environment Minister pointed out that those involved in R&D must keep in mind the different between the success achieved in laboratories and success while implementing solutions on the roads. He also urged researchers and scientists to be completely immersed in their subjects of research.

Modi-Mozambique1Prime Minister  Narendra Modi visited the National Assembly of Mozambique, in Maputo. He held discussions with the President of the National Assembly, Ms. Veronica Macamo.

The Prime Minister visited the Centre for Innovation and Technological Development at the Science and Technology Park at Maluana.

The Centre provides key services, including classroom training in IT-related fields, and incubation space for tech start ups.

He interacted with students and encouraged them to share their experiences of working at the Centre. He also met alumni of Indian educational institutions.

Interacting with the Indian community in Maputo, the Prime Minister said Africa is the land which first shaped the identity of the Indian diaspora. He complimented the community for keeping Indian traditions alive over generations.

The book depicts the saga of valour of CRPF in foiling terrorist attack on Ram Janam Bhumi – Babri Masjid Complex.

On July 05, 2005, after exploding outer barricade of the complex, the heavily armed 5 terrorists tried to move towards the inner barricading, where troops of 33 Battalion CRPF were deployed. The militants with an intention to storm the “Sanctum Sanctorum” fired heavily at the troops along with lobbing of grenades and firing Rockets. But the troops retaliated fiercely and bravely and neutralized all the five militants after an hour long gun battle. No devotee sustained injuries. A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the dead terrorists.

For displaying unparalleled bravery and valour, 20 CRPF officers and men were awarded with gallantry medals which included 02 Shaurya Chakras, 06 President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMGs) and 12 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMGs).

On the occasion of release of the illustrative book “Ayodhya ke Shoorvir” Shri K Durga Prasad, DG CRPF and other senior officers of the Force were present.

CRPF is publishing a series of illustrative book Shaurya Gathayen on the valour of its officers and men. Till now 04 such books – Sardar Post: Ek Shaurya Gatha, Veer Brighunandan, Shurveer Prakash, Janbaz Elango have been published.

Wooden-Charkha-spinning-wheels-300x195World’s largest Charkha (spinning wheels) unveiled on Tuesday by Shri Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister for MSME at the Terminal 3 of IGI Airport Delhi.

Installation of the iconic Charkha at the departure forecourt would carry forward the legacy of promoting India’s rich cultural heritage through different artworks at the terminal.

All the existing art works at the terminal – Mudras, Regal procession, Elephant statues, Surya Sculpture, Suryanamaskar and Worli Art among others – depict and showcase Indian heritage globally.

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in a message for this occasion said “The Charkha is a symbol of our glorious heritage, and an inspiring reminder of our freedom struggle, led by the father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi”.

The four-tones Charkha made from high-quality Burma teak wood is estimated to last for over 50 years. It is 9 ft wide, 17 ft tall and 30 ft long. It was built in 55 days by a team of 42 highly skilled carpenters hailing from Ahmedabad

Unveiling the Charkha Shri Kalraj Mishra said that the Charkha is the symbol of Gandhian values and shows the Government’s priority to Khadi and Village Industries in the country. He added that Charkha represents Swadeshi, self-sufficiency, and at the same time interdependence, because the wheel is at the center of a network of cotton growers, carders, weavers, distributors, and users.

The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas (Independent Charge), Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP President Amit Shah, Minister of State for Culture (Independent Charge), Tourism (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, the Minister of State for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Shri Giriraj Singh and other dignitaries are also present on this occasion.

The project will also develop Government office accommodation for nearly 2.42 lakh sqm at Netaji Nagar.

The total estimated cost of the project is Rs.32,835 crores including maintenance and operation costs for 30 years. The project shall be implemented on self-financing basis by sale of commercial BUA in Nauroji Nagar and parts of Sarojini Nagar, adjoining the Ring Road.

The project will be completed in five years in a phased manner.

BSNLThe Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Tuesday approved 9 per cent increase in pension of 1.88 lakh BSNL employees who retired between 2007-13.

The pension of BSNL pensioners/family pensioners, who retired prior to 10.06.2013 has been revised w.e.f. 01.01.2007 notionally with actual benefit w.e.f. 10.06.2013, by allowing the benefit of merger of 50% DA/DR with Basic Pay/ Pension, effectively amounting to 78.2% DA/DR for the purpose of fitment at par with the serving employees of BSNL.

The revision entails an estimated recurring annual expenditure of approximately Rs 129.63 crore for pensioners and Rs 24.93 crore for family pensioners and arrears from 2013-14 would be Rs 239.92 crore approximately for pensioners and Rs 44.62 Crore approximately for family pensioners. Approximately 118500 pensioners all over India will be benefitted by this revision.

Bombay-HCThe Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to introduce ‘The High Courts (Alteration of Names) Bill, 2016’ in Parliament.

The High Courts (Alteration of Names) Bill, 2016 will facilitate the changing of the names of ‘Bombay High Court as Mumbai High Court’ and ‘Madras High Court as Chennai High Court’ respectively.

The High Courts of Bombay and Madras  were named after the cities in which they were located. Consequence to the change in the names of these cities, there has been demands for change in the names of these High Courts. At present, there is no Central Law under which the proposal for change of names of these High Courts can be addressed. This Legislation is to address this requirement.

Modi-Cabinet1The Union Council of Ministers was expanded on Tuesday with the induction of 19 new Ministers of State. Prakash Javadekar, Minister of State with Independent Charge of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has been elevated as Cabinet Minister. President Pranab Mukherjee administered Oath of Office and Secrecy to 20 Ministers.

Vice-President Dr. Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitely, Ramvilas Paswan, Anant Geete, Sadananda Gowda, Smriti Irani besides other ministers and dignitaries attended the swearing in ceremony in the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Of the 19 new Ministers inducted today from 10 States, 15 have past legislative experience in the Parliament and in State Legislatures with 10 of them having served in central and state governments as Ministers  and officials..

Of the new ministers, 9 are Post-Graduates and 7 Graduates including 7 with Degrees in Law, 2 Business Graduates and a Doctor.
