TNI Bureau: The Congress Party and senior Ministers in the UPA II Government have taken strong exceptions to the comments made by Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai yesterday, in which he criticised the government on policy decisions.
The CAG had expressed concerns over the “brazenness” with which decisions were taken by the government in many cases. He further suggested that institutions such as Lokpal, Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI should be made constitutional entities without any government interfence.
Vinod Rai’s comments were welcomed by the BJP, but the Congress Party and government have expressed displeasure and noted that he should not have exceeded his constitutional limits.
