The building, Rana Plaza that housed several garments factories, a bank branch, and 300 shops, collapsed in Savar. Around 6000 workers used to work in the factories located in the building.

The injured were taken to the Enam Medical College. Director of the Industrial Police Mostafizur Rahman held the garment factory owners responsible for the collapse tragedy. He said that the owners were operating their units ignoring the cracks in the ill-fated building.
