In a shocking and gruesome incident, a British woman tourist was murdered by a Dutch tourist inside the ‘New Beauty’ houseboat on the Dal Lake in Srinagar. The woman’s body was found in a pool of blood inside her room.
The Dutch tourist, who was trying to flee after the murder, was arrested by the Srinagar police. The woman was reportedly molested and then killed. There were injuries all over her body.
The man reportedly broke the cabin of the woman to barge into her room. It is believed that he stabbed the woman during the course of rape attempt. It is not clear whether he was successful in his attempt or not. The postmortem report will shed lights on this.
The Dutch national, De-wit Richard, who fled after the murder, was arrested in Qazigund. The 24-year-old British woman was reportedly staying in the houseboat for the last two months.
