Britain begins ‘Mission Gujarat’, woos Narendra Modi

TNI Bureau: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has scored a major victory, as Britain ended a 10-year boycott and took a step forward to establish business relations with his state. British High Commissioner to India, James Bevan had a meeting with Modi in Ahmedabad today.

The meeting lasted for about 50 minutes. James Bevan drove into the state Secretariat complex in Ahmedabad to have disucussions with the Gujarat CM. Later, the British High Commissioner also met Governor Kamla Beniwal.

After the UK Government’s move, Narendra Modi now expects the United States to end its boycott and welcome him to visit that country. Modi was denied the US visa several times in the past because of the 2002 riots taint.
