TNI Bureau: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken strong exceptions to Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani, who embarrassed the party by supporting the PM over the appointment of new CBI Director Ranjit Sinha.
The party, which is already upset with Jethmalani for his tirade against BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, had hinted at strong action against the eminent lawyer from deviating from the party line on a regular basis and criticising the leadership and policies.
Jethmalani stunned the BJP by writing a letter to the PM, hailing him for doing a great job by appointing Ranjit Sinha as the new CBI Director and “averting natioal calamity”. That was in contrast with BJP’s stand, as the party had sought for the recall of Mr. Sinha.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha too joined the anti-Gadkari chorus in the party, triggering further crisis. He joined the bandwagon of Jethmalani, Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinha, who do not see Gadkari to continue for long in the wake of corporate fraud allegations against him.
