BJP rejects Advani’s Resignation, offers Nothing

The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have gone into a huddle after the resignation of veteran leader LK Advani, who triggered a massive tremors in the party. The Parliament Board that met last night, decided to reject Advani’s resignation, but offered no “face-saving” formula to the patriarch.

While Narendra Modi, Murli Manohar Joshi and Nitin Gadkari could not attend the meeting, they sided with the resolution passed by the BJP Parliamentary Board. BJP President Rajnath Singh made it clear that he would not accept Advani’s resignation under any circumstances.

“The party and the nation need Advaniji at this juncture. We request and urge them to reconsider his decision and take the resignation back”. Many other top leaders, including Nitin Gadkari and Uma Bharti, BJP Chief Ministers and RSS leaders are flying to Delhi today to pacify the 85-year-old Advani, who is reportedly upset with the RSS for pushing for Narendra Modi’s elevation, vetoing his reservations.

The Congress has taken a potshot at the turmoil going on within the BJP and questioned the party how it would manage the nation if it fails to keep its leaders together. NDA allies JD(U) and Shiv Sena have taken strong exception to Advani’s resignation and asked the BJP to sort out the matter immediately in the interest of the party, NDA and nation. It is being learnt that BJP will never go back on its decision to elevate Modi, but may come up with a solution that could pacify Advani. Or else, the party would go ahead to embrace the new era.
