TNI Bureau: The 2-1 test series defeat against England on the home soil, has forced the BCCI to act tough on England County cricketers who were supposed to take training at the Global Cricket School (GCS). The group, comprising of 30 England County cricketers, failed to get the green signal from the BCCI.
The BCCI believes that once the County cricketers from England get training on spinning tracks, they would put India in trouble in the days to come. BCCI has not forgotten Joseph Root, who made an impressive Test debut in the final Test at Nagpur, and had taken adequate training in India beforehand.
The 30 cricketers were from Yorkshire, Durham, Kent, Hampshire, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire and Nottinghamshire. The GCS is owned by Sachin Bajaj. It has been functional for the last seven years and training the foreign cricketers for the last four years.
The cricketers would now go to Sri Lanka after the BCCI showed them red flag. In December 2002, England cricketers Steven Finn and Joseph Root benefitted from the England Performance Programme’s (EPP) tour of India and later proved their mettle in the test and ODI series.
