A Bangalore court on Friday sentenced all the six convicts to life imprisonment in the gangrape case of a law student. The convicts are Maddura (20), Doddaeeraiah (19), Shivanna (20), Eeraiah (20), Yelayaiah (23) and Rama (50).

Eight persons had gangraped an undergraduate student of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) on October 13, 2012, on Bangalore University’s Jnanabharathi campus. While one accused Raja (24) is still absconding, the eighth accused is a minor and facing trial at a Juvenile court in Bangalore.

The prosecution examined 31 witnesses during the trial. It had appealed the court to award maximum punishment to the accused.
