Mumbai: The West Indies failed to create any upset in the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2013, as Australia demolished them by 114 runs to lift the trophy for the sixth time in their 8th appearance in the final.
Earlier, Australia scored 259/7 in 50 overs. Cameron was the top scorer with 75, while Haynes made 52. Lanning (31) and Fields (36*) were the other top contributors. Quintyne took three wickets.
Chasing a victory target of 260, West Indies women bowled out for 145 in 43.1 overs. Knight (21), Aguilleira (23) and Dottin (22) offered some resistance. Perry took three wickets, while Schutt, Sthalekar and Osborne took two wickets each.
Jess Cameron was declared ‘Player of the Match’. Suzie Bates won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.
