TNI Bureau: The Winter Session of the Odisha Assembly has begun today. After giving obituary references on departed members, including former Odisha Governor B Satyanarayan Reddy, former Minister Bhagirathi Gomango, former MLA Harihar Swain, four other ex-MLAs and seven security personnel, who had died in naxal attacks, the House was adjourned till November 29.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the motion of condolence, while Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh and BJP leader Karendra Majhi supported it. Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat paid a tribute on behalf of the House and adjourned the proceedings till November 29.
The current session will run till December 22. It is expected to be stormy, as the opposition parties are expected to raise the issues such as coal scam, mining lease, phone tapping, price rise etc.
