Balasore police cracked the high profile murder case of lady judicial officer Anupama Behera arresting two brothers of Nayagarh district. They claimed that love affair between the victim and accused was the chief reason behind the murder.
The accused Jyotiranjan Mohanty and Priyaranjan Mohanty have also admitted their crime. The Odisha Judicial Service (OJS) officer was killed at her official residence in Balasore town on March 14 night by brother duo Priyaranjan and Jyotiranjan, who had extra marital affair with her.
Even though, Anupama was married and had a little son, she had known both Priyaranjan and Jyotiranjan. She was working as process inspector. Earlier, she was posted as sub-divisional judicial magistrate in Bhadrak. She was about to join as sub-judge in Koraput on March 25. However, the love affair claimed her life.
Police had launched manhunt operation to nab the culprits. Meanwhile, the district Bar Association members’ threat to continue boycott the court had put added pressure on police to expedite their operation.
