Anna or Kejriwal? Who is the Crusader?

TNI Bureau: After Arvind Kejriwal’s latest ‘gherao’ episode in New Delhi, a new probability has cropped up, whether the actual crusader is Anna Hazare or his close aide Arvind Kejriwal.

People’s movement group ‘India Against Corruption’ (IAC) was found in 2010 with a mission to Create a Corruption-free India. Anna Hazare came out as the crusader after his fast on 16 August 2011. However, the group had other members like RTI and anti-corruption activist and former IRS officer Arvind Kejriwal, retired IPS officer Kiran Bedi and others.

Big reason behind the wide support to IAC was the long list of scams by the pro government persons, for which the common men wanted a changed and corruption-free country and govt. The group worked hard, protested several times with extensive support from volunteers across the country and yet struggling for its noble cause.

The first impression of IAC provided that Anna Hazare is the crusader and others including Kejriwal were the key members of team Anna. But finally as the group noticed that the govt. is least concerned about their cause, Team Anna was disbanded on 6th August 2012.

Hazare did not intimated about the future course of action but just intimated about constitution of the preparatory committee to take forward the formation of a political alternative.

But people like Arvind Kejriwal did not stop and wanted to play the second innings. Recently, he alleged that all major political parties including Congress, BJP, BJD and CPM are involved in the coal scam amounting to Rs. 1.86 lakh crore. He even suspected that all the parties are working hand in glove. The crusader demanded cancellation of all the licenses of the coal blocks.

Kejriwal became the sole torch bearer this time where Anna Hazare was completely out of frame. Three separate teams led by Kejriwal led the protests outside the residences of PM, Sonia Gandhi and BJP President Nitin Gadkari’s house in high security zones but police cracked down on them as they tried to break the barricades to proceed towards the PMO in New Delhi.

So, now the whole story that can decide upon who is the crusader out of the two is well before you. Nevertheless, it is equally true that whoever may be the leader, they are still united and fighting for a corruption free India and that is great.
