‘ALLIANCE’ NGO Celebrates Annual Day in Balangir

“ALLIANCE” NGO celebrated its 9th Annual Function on 30th May 2013 in Balangir. On the eve of this function members of the organization staged a drama on ‘Illegal seasonal migration’ following the meeting.

The function was presided over by the Chairman of the NGO, Mr. Rohit Abraham where retired Principal of Govt. women’s College, Bhawanipatna Dr. Sibaprasad Nanda graced as the Chief Guest. He highlighted and admired achievement of the NGO, especially the eye-catching attainment on the issues like illegal seasonal migration, mostly prevalent in Kantabanji, Nuapada area and environmental pollution, in his speech.

Other guests of the evening were Editor of Balangir based weekly Odiya, ‘Prerana’, Mr. Raghunandan Singh, Social Worker Mr. Jayant Bagh and retired WESCO executive Mr. Krupasindhu Padhi.

The meeting was followed by a drama, directed by Ram Narayan Dash, member of ALLIANCE, to aware about the cons of illegal seasonal migration. It was followed by a dance competition organized among school and college students. Even some local renowned dancers and some members of the NGO presented foot tapping dance extravaganza to thrill the audience with joy.

The judges for the dance competition were Mr. Gopal Pradhan, Mr. Himansu Guru and Mr. Gopal Thanapati. The winners of the competition were felicitated with trophies and certificates. On this occasion the ALLIANCE best village worker award was given to Mr. Nilambara Sahu (Bindha Pali village of Agalpur Block). Ms Bharati Swain addressed the vote of thanks at the end. Around one thousand people including women and children enjoyed the function that continued till 11 P.M.

ALLIANCE NGO works on the issues related to Children, Education & Literacy, Health & Family Welfare, Micro Finance (SHGs), Rural Development & Poverty Alleviation, Women’s Development & Empowerment and Youth Affairs.

So far the organization has successfully conducted Adult education and literacy campaigns, SHG formation and strengthening, community health and sanitation awareness, vocational training, along with youth empowerment activities like – 28 SHGs were formed, 38 training camps were organized, all the SHGs were linked with bank, tailoring and computer centers were established, literacy campaign conducted in 11 villages and Heath and sanitation awareness programme organized in 82 villages.
