TNI Bureau: Terror group Al Qaeda confirmed the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, deputy leader of the organisation. He was reportedly killed earlier this year in Pakistan.
In a video posted on the internet, Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri confirmed that Abu Yahya al-Libi was killed in June by the US drone strike in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region.
US officials said that Libi’s death is a major blow to the Al Qaeda. He was monitoring the terror group’s operation in Pakistan. Report said that he had escaped the US custody in Afghanistan in 2005, but had appeared on many videos.
The video was posted on the day of the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States. However, Zawahiri did not mention the celebration of the attacks. He talked about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said that the US has been defeated in war against them in these two countries.
