Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field first. That proved disastrous, as England women posted 272/8 in 50 overs. Edwards scored 109, while Sarah Taylor (35), Lydia Greenway (29), Katherine Brunt (21) and Arran Brindle (37*) were the other top scorers. For India, Jhulan Goswami and Nagarajan Niranjana took two wickets each.
Chasing a victory target of 273, India lost three wickets for just 29 on board. Despite a valiant fightback from Harmanpreet Kaur (107*) and Karu Jain (56), they lost the way and finished at 240/9 in 50 overs. Katherine Brunt took four wickets, while Danielle Wyatt took two wickets. Charlotte Edwards was declared ‘Woman of the Match’.
