MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) became the first team in CLT20 2013 to reach the semifinals. They defeated Brisbane Heat to score their third straight win in the tournament. Brisbane had posted 137/7 in 20 overs. Hopes (20), Lynn (29), Hartley (35) and Cutting (42*) were the top scorers. Mohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.

In reply, Chennai reached 140/2 in 15.5 overs and won the match by eight wickets. Michael Hussey (57*), Murali Vijay (42) and Raina (23) were the top contributors. Michael Hussey was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
