11 Children die in Bihar after Mid-Day Meal

In a shocking development, at least eleven children died in Bihar’s Chhapra after taking mid-day meal. They were served ‘Khichdi’ (a combination of rice and dal). Another 40-50 children have been admitted to the hospital. 10 of them are said to be critical. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has ordered a probe into the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the dead children.

The incident occurred at a primary school in Chhapra. Hundreds of people gheraoed the local police station, demanding justice. The opposition BJP slammed CM Nitish Kumar for failing to protect the lives of small school children. All those dead were under 10.

Latest Update: The death toll has reached 20.
