TNI Bureau: The Delhi High Court issued directives and sought responses from the Centre and the Delhi Government on a PIL seeking urgent intervention to protect the health of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar since June 28.
The petition, filed by advocate and social activist Rakesh Kumar Saini, sought immediate medical assistance for Wangchuk, claiming that his health has deteriorated during the fast. It urged the authorities to take necessary steps to safeguard his life and provide proper treatment.
Wangchuk is protesting in support of the Cockroach Janta Party and demanding action on issues related to the education system, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The plea also sought his admission to a government hospital for medical care, citing reports that he has lost more than 8 kg during the hunger strike.
