5 IAF Personnel Killed in AN-32 Aircraft Crash at Jorhat Air Base

TNI Bureau: Five Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel were killed in an AN-32 transport aircraft crash at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday, when the twin-engine turboprop aircraft was attempting to land.

The IAF confirmed the loss of life and identified the deceased as Sqn Ldr Prashant Singh, Flt Lt Shubham Kumar, Sgt Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat and Agniveervayu Danish Alam, who “made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.” A court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash.

Visuals from the site showed the aircraft broken into two parts on the runway, with debris scattered nearby as rescue teams worked to control the fire. The AN-32 aircraft is widely used by the IAF for transport, logistics and operations in remote and high-altitude areas.
