89 Killed in Ratangarh Temple Stampede in MP

In a shocking development, at least 89 people were killed and over 100 others injured, when a stampede occurred at the Ratangarh Temple in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh this morning. A judicial probe has been ordered into the mishap.

The devotees had gathered at the Ratangarh Mata temple to worship during the last day of Navratri festival. 50 people were killed in the stampede, while 20 others drowned after jumping off the bridge in panic.

Around 50,000 devotees were present in and around the temple when the tragedy took place. The stampede was reportedly triggered by a rumour that the bridge on Sindh river, was collapsing soo after a tractor trolley rammed into it and then fell into the river.
