42 MLAs in India, 7 in Odisha accused of Crime against Women

Everybody wants for a stringent punishment for the perpetrators of rape and….. But unfortunately the elected representatives have been escaped the law after doing such heinous crime and they continue to hold their office. As many as 42 MLAs in India and seven MLAs in Odisha are accused of serious crime like rape and molestation.

As per the data collected by some activists on the basis of the affidavits submitted by the candidates to the Election Commission, six MLAs are accused of rape. Three MLAs – Sribhagwan Sharma, Anoop Sanda and Manoj Kumar (all from Samajwadi Party in UP), Mohd Aleem Khan (BSP, UP), Kandikunta Venkata Prasad (TDP, Andhra Pradesh) and Jethabhai G Ahir (BJP, Gujarat) are accused of rape charges.

Out of 36 other MLAs who are accused of crime against women, six are from the Congress and five are from the BJP. Three belong to Samajwadi Party. Uttar Pradesh has 8 MLAs accused of crime against women, while Odisha and West Bengal have seven MLAs each.

Two MPs – Semmalai S of AIDMK from Salem in Tamil Nadu and Suvendu Adhikari of the Trinamool Congress (AITC) from Tamluk in West Bengal are also charged of cruelty and intent to outrage a woman’s modesty.
