Rourkela: Inaugurating the 47thAnnual Horticulture Show of Rourkela Steel Plant G.S. Prasad CEO, RSP said, “Rourkelais the greenest and the most beautiful of all Steel Cities and each one of us can be proud of this fact. I am sure that your love for gardens, greenery and flowers will be further enhanced in the days to come and this show will be one of the largest and the most attractive in this part of the country. So far more than 41.5 lakh trees have been planted in the township as well as steel plant,thereby creating a large canopy of green. This has not only added to the beauty but has also helped in improving the environment of this area”.
Elaborating about the “AamaraBagicha” scheme introduced in the steel plant for the employees to developsmall gardens near their departments, Mr. Prasad said that this way our Stee lPlant would be known as a Plant amidst gardens.” He further appealed to the Rourkelites to avoid littering and the rampant use of plastic bags and ensure that all garbage is disposed in the attractive dustbins which have been put up all over the city for this purpose. “To save our ecosystem from permanent damage RSP is sorting domestic garbage into bio-degradable andnon-bio-degradable. The school students, with their focused activity ofeco-clubs must take the lead in this regard,” he added.
It is noteworthy that in all 1179 entries in various categories like cut flowers, flower arrangement, dinner bowl arrangement,potted plants, cactus, fruits and vegetables, etc. were exhibited in the show,thereby making the event a memorable one for the garden lovers of the steel city.
