Bhubaneswar, 26th Oct 13: Severe cyclone ‘Phailin’ and the devastating flood in its aftermath have caused extensive damage. 15 districts out of 30 districts of Odisha are affected. Infrastructure and Public properties are damaged.
After the disaster period due to non availability of power supply, the Piped water supply schemes remained inoperative. During recent cyclone/flood 3040 nos of Pipe water supply schemes have been severely affected due to disruption of power supply as well as damages caused to different units of PWS systems like internal electrification, electrical installations, pump houses, pumping machinery, intake well, infiltration gallery pipes, pipelines (distribution and rising main), valve & valve chambers, public stand posts etc.
It has been ascertained from RWSS Divisions that, in Balasore RWSS Division
PWS Projects have suffered damage of Transformer, Conductor, Tubewell platforms, Stand posts & S.V. Chamber. An amount of Rs. 66 lakhs 60 thousand is required for immediate repair. In Cuttack RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage.
An amount of Rs. 55lakhs 56 thousand is required for immediate repair. In Jagatsinghpur RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage. An amount of Rs. 15 lakhs is required for immediate repair. In Sonepur RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of Gallery, Pipe Line and Transformer. An amount of Rs. 32 lakhs is required for immediate repair. In Bhubaneswar RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage.
An amount of Rs. 80 lakhs is required for immediate repair. In Bhadrak RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of Tubewell Platforms, burnt pump sets, starters, main switch, pipe lines. An amount of Rs. 56 lakhs is required for immediate repair. In Keonjhar RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of pipe lines, infiltration gallery, electrification works and tubewell platforms.
An amount of Rs. 64 lakhs 15 thousand is required for immediate repair. In Jajpur RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of platforms, stand posts, pump houses, pipe lines, panel boards, internal wiring systems. An amount of Rs. 9 lakhs 50 thousand is required for immediate repair.
In Rairangpur, RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of infiltration gallery, raising main and internal electrification. An amount of Rs. 30 lakhs is required for immediate repair. In Nayagarh RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of pump house, boundary wall, external electrification, production well, MS ladder, PVC pipe line etc. An amount of Rs. 51 lakhs is required for immediate repair.
In Puri, RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of pump house, pipe lines and infiltration gallery. An amount of Rs. 2 crore 6 lakh is required for immediate repair. In Berhampur, RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of pump house, pipe line, infiltration gallery, raising main, electrification work. An amount of Rs. 11 crore 60 lakhs is required for immediate repair. In Bhanjanagar, RWSS Division PWS Projects have
suffered damage of pump house, boundary wall, production well, infiltration gallery.
An estimated Rs. 8 crore 73 lakhs is required for immediate repair. 22 lakhs is available from annual maintenance budget and 46 lakhs is available from the related scheme. Rest 8 crore 5 lakhs is needed. In Baripada RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of pump house with pump motor, internal electrification, pipe lines. An amount of Rs. 9lakhs 50 thousand is required for immediate repair. In Gajapati RWSS Division PWS Projects have suffered damage of head works, storage tanks, pipe lines, overhead tanks, internal electrification. An amount of Rs. 52 lakhs 56 thousand is required for
immediate repair.
In total, a sum of Rs. 27 crores 60 lakhs 87 thousands is required for repair of PWS projects and to restore the drinking water supply system on emergency basis in the affected districts. 22 lakhs is available from annual maintenance budget and 46 lakhs is available from the related scheme. RD Department has written to SRC for the rest amount of Rs. 26 crores 92 lakhs and 87 thousands.
