Three days after Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in New York to take the bilateral relations forward, at least 30-40 terrorists have attempted an infiltration bid across the border, fueling tension across the LoC.
The Pakistani troops have resorted to heavy firing, resulting in retaliation from the Indian jawans. The infiltration bid started eight days ago and today is the ninth day of the encounter. The Army has assured the nation that it has the situation under control and there is no reason for panic.
According to Army sources, at least 12 Pakistani infiltrators had been killed, while five Indian jawans sustained injuries. Over 300 militants are waiting to cross the border, but the Indian army jawans are alert to foil any such attempt.
