2010 German Bakery Blast: Pune Court convicts Baig

A Pune court on Monday found Mirza Himayat Inayat Baig guilty in the 2010 German Bakery blast case. The quantum of sentence will be announced on April 18.

Baig had allegedly provided logistical support for the blast, which killed 17 people and 64 others were injured on February 13, 2010, in Pune. He was only accused in the case arrested on September 7, 2010. He may move the High Court challenging the Pune’s court order.

Baig has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Explosive Substances Act. Additional sessions judge N P Dhote convicted him three years after the blast rocked Pune’s famous German Bakery.
