Sudarsan Pattnaik bags “Moscow Choice Prize”

Noted sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik once again brought glory for the state as well as country as he bagged the “Moscow choice prize” at World Sand Sculpture Championship 2013 held at Moscow’s Kolomenskoe Museum Reserve from April 22-28. He created a 12 feet Lord Ganesh, who is regarded as the symbol of world peace.

Pattnaik was the participant from India at the competition, which was represented by 10 countries including Russia, Italy, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Spain, and Poland.

While Pattnaik won “Moscow choice prize”, “sculptor choice prize” went to Ukraine and Russia bagged the “people’s choice prize” at the competition.

The Puri-born artist was lauded for creating Lord Ganesh, who has always brought luck for him, at the competition. The god is also very popular in Moscow. Pattnaik has won many international prizes around the world in the past for creating Ganesh in different themes. With the recent honour, the government may do something for the sand art.
