Rape Convict Bitti Mohanty arrested in Kerala
In a big development, former Odisha Homeguard DG BB Mohanty’s rapist son, Bitti Mohanty was arrested from Kannur in Kerala more than six years after he jumped the parole with the help of his father and other influential people. Bitti was sent to seven years in jail for raping a German girl in 2006.
Bitti was working at State Bank of Travancore using a fake name ‘Raghav Rajan’. Latest reports suggest that Bitti has confessed that he was in Kerala for the last three years. A scar on his leg has confirmed his identity.
Bitihotra Mohanty had arrested a 26-year-old German tourist in Alwar, Rajasthan in 2006, who happened to be his friend. He was later sentenced to seven years of imprisonment.
Bitti was allowed a 15-day parole to meet his “ailing” mother in November 2006, but jumped the parole and had been absconding since then. He would be produced in court today. With the arrest of Bitti, the role of other people, including his father should be investigated and the guilty should be brought into justice.
It’s an irony an infamous rapist, who shocked the nation, got a chance to work at a nationalised bank using an alias. Leading TV channel TIMES NOW deserves the kudos, as it aired a news on Bitti on December 2012, demanding justice. That probably helped in identifying Bitti Mohanty, as the bank authorities got an anonymous letter about this.
