TNI Bureau: Following the membership drive plan for Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) launched by the suspended and rebel BJD leader Pyarimohan Mohapatra, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is seeking party’s support ahead of the BJD organisational polls scheduled in December.

However, the members loyal to Patnaik have been claiming that Pyari’s plans and strategies would not affect the BJD leadership or the party.

The party is probably in panic after Pyari revealed his plans at Sunday’s Kranti Samabesh Rally held at lower PMB in Bhubaneswar. He said that similar mass conventions would be organised in different parts of the state to increase enrollment for his political front (OJM).

He announced that a similar mass congregation would be organised in Kalahandi district in the third week of November. Later, the rallies would be held in northern Odisha and southern region of the state. The political morcha is targeting at least 25 lakh members within five months.

Despite hindrances, Pyari managed to show his strength to the government at the rally where around 20,000 BJD workers had joined. The rebel leader, who seems to take a single step with more caution, said that his morcha is working to reform the regional party BJD. It is focusing on to remove unwanted and undemocratic elements in the party.

Pyari, who dared to question the legality of Naveen’s position claiming, there was no president in the party since 2010, is aiming to oust Naveen as the BJD president. The game in the politics would be revealed in the coming days ahead of the 2014 assembly polls.
