Pyari Mohan Mohapatra eyes Western Odisha

TNI Bureau: Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, the erstwhile architect of BJD has set his target on Western Odisha after holding a successful rally in Bhubaneswar on October 28. As revealed by him earlier, that OJM is going to have two massive rallies in western Odisha. His journey would begin at Bhawanipatna on November 19.

The reason behind Pyari’s interest in Western Odisha is quite clear. This political zone have always witnessed a step motherly attitude from the Odisha government in the last few years and its people look for other political alternatives which can do something for their region. Many of them may want to go with Pyari Mohan Mohapatra rather going for BJD, Congress or BJP.

Pyari Mohapatra has not yet revealed his cards. His Odisha Jana Morcha is making a buzz these days, but it would be difficult to say whether it can provide a viable political alternative in 2014 assembly elections or not. There is little doubt that Pyari has already begun the enrollment of cadres into his outfit and would go all out to finalise the candidates for polls the way he did for the BJD in the past.

After Kalahandi, Pyari would go ahead and target Sambalpur. The OJM has already organised a private meeting in Balangir and may go aggressive to enroll more cadres in the coming days. Pyari is reportedly planning to march towards Ganjam district at some point of time. Ganjam is considered as the fort of Naveen Patnaik and Pyari would love to make a dent into that.

The OJM has already sent its key leaders and office-bearers to Bhawanipatna to take stock of the situation and make the rally a huge success. Pyari has warned the government officials in the district not to play into the hands of the government and try to sabotage his rally, saying they should understand that Naveen Patnaik is not the permanent CM of the state.

It would be interesting to see what response Pyari gets from Kalahandi, as that would determine his political fate in Western Odisha, which has been deprived of better facilities for long. Can Pyari be able to make a big buzz? Let’s wait and watch!
