By Chitta Ranjan Choudhury: In a shocking development, the ICDS Centre (Anganwadi Kendra) at Gaganapur village in Jeypore Block, had reportedly supplied rotten eggs to the children and pregnant women, but they were detected on time, leading to tension in the area.
The villagers have destroyed the eggs and buried them so that they are not cooked the served to the women and kids. At least 47 kids and 16 pregnant women are being given food (breakfast and mid-day meal) at this Anganwadi centre as per the government’s directive. Eggs are usually given on Wednesday and Friday.

However, for the last three weeks, there 
have been deviation in this and no eggs were given to the kids and women. When the villagers raised the issue, the Anganwadi Cook attributed the reason to supply of rotten eggs. When the news spread, the villagers gathered at the centre and seized the eggs before burying them.
The eggs are being supplied by a Self Help Group (SHG). Last time, the eggs were procured on September 30. The villagers have demanded a probe into the incident and immediate action against the guilty.
