Punjab Cops: Vijender took Drugs 12 Times
Boxer Vijender Singh’s sports career has taken a severe beating, as the Punjab Police confirmed that he took drugs 12 times between December 2012 and February 2013. Vijender reportedly received the drugs from smugglers, including NRI Anoop Singh Kahlon, who was earlier arrested by the cops.
The police further revealed that Vijender took heroin 12 times, while his sparing partner Ram Singh took it 5 times. Vijender had earlier refused to give his blood and hair sample, hindering the investigation. However, the police may use force by arresting him and taking his samples, as the new evidences surfaced now.
Canada-based Anoop Singh Kahlon was arrested by the Punjab police on March 3 along with 26 kg of heroin worth Rs. 130 crore. He carried the drugs in a car, which was registered on the name of Vijender Singh’s wife. During the investigation, it was revealed that Vijender was in tough with Kahlon since August 2012 and the duo talked at least 80 times over phone.
Vijender Singh had brought glory to the nation by winning a bronze medal in the middleweight category at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. However, the latest development has put shadows on his career. His father has dismissed the allegations and said that his son was innocent.
