Pakistan: Gilani’s Son abducted from Poll Rally

A group of unidentified gunmen abducted Former Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haidar from a rally in Multan killing his Secretary on Thursday. The incident came just two days ahead of elections in the country.

Ali Haider was kidnapped when he was campaigning today. The intention was to kill the leader’s son, but his secretary was gunned down when a group of men opened fire on the crowd at the rally. The miscreants fled the spot taking Ali Haider with them. Haider is believed to be injured in the incident.

According to Geo news, two people were killed including Gilani’s Secretary and a bodyguard. Five people were injured in the firing. While sources said that the attackers had come in two cars, police have a different opinion. They said that the gunmen had come on a motorcycle and escaped in a black car.

The site has been cordoned off by the police and all entry points from Multan to adjoining districts have been blocked.
