Odisha Cabinet: 5 Ministers Resign, 9 New Ministers take Oath

TNI Bureau: In a big reshuffle, Odisha Chief Minister asked five Ministers to resign from the posts, while he inducted nine new Ministers. Former Ministers Dr. Damodar Rout, Bijayashree Routray and Rabi Narayan Nanda made a comeback to the Cabinet.

Finance Minister Prafulla Ghadei, Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena, Labour and Employment Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo, Tourism, Culture Minister Prafulla Samal and Energy Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak submitted their resignations.

Dr. Damodar Rout was sworn-in as a Cabinet Minister. In addition, Kalpataru Das and Bijayashree Routray also took the oath as the Cabinet Ministers.

Pratap Keshari Deb, Subrat Tarai, Rajanikanta Singh, Sarojini Hembram, Arun Kumar Sahu and Rabi Narayan Nanda were sworn-in as the Ministers of State. The office of oath and secrecy were administered by Odisha Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare.

In addition to the Cabinet reshuffle, Rabi Narayan Pani was asked to resign as the Chief Whip of the party. Prabhat Tripathy replaced him. Sanjay Dasverma will be the Deupty Chief Whip.

Prsanna Acharya was given the Finance portfolio, while Dr. Damodar Rout will get Health & Family Welfare. Rabi Narayan Nanda got School & Mass Education portfolio. Niranjan Pujari got Excise portfolio. Debi Prasad Mishra was given the Agriculture and Fishery & Animal Husbandry portfolios. Rajanikant Singh got Forest & Environment. Usha Devi became the Women & Child Development Minister.
