Consistent rain and bad weather played the spoilsport in the third Test match between India and Australia in Mohali. No play was possible on Day 1, as the umpires called it off after inspecting the pitch conditions several times.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan, who is all set to make his Test debut in Mohali, was left disappointed. Skipper Dhoni was also disappointed, as his team was raring to go at the demoralised Australian team, which is trailing 2-0 in the series and playing this test without players like Shane Watson, James Pattinson and Mitchell Johnson, who were dropped on disciplinary grounds.

Even Matthew Wade was out due to an injury. Brad Haddin replaced him in the playing XI. Australia would be praying for more rain so that they don’t suffer yet another loss to make it 3-0. Dhoni wanted a turner in Mohali, which usually favoured the pacers. But, the behaviour of the pitch may change after the rains.
