NAM Summit: PM meets Zardari, discusses Terrorism

TNI Bureau: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari on the sidelines of the NAM Summit in Tehran to discuss the terrorism, which is a threat to both the nations.

Dr. Singh urged Zardari for speedy trial of the convicts of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Both the leaders exchanged their views on bilateral ties on Thursday.

Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said that the meeting with Zardari was necessary to continue the bilateral relation and the India needs to be patient to for relation with Pakistan.

It is reported that both Dr Singh and Zaradari appreciated the works for establishing peace in both the countries. Even Dr Singh has been invited to visit Pakistan.

Dr Singh also accepted Zardari’s invitation and promised that he will visit Pakistan at right time. He also met Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari‚ Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik.

The significant meeting came a day after the Supreme Court upheld Ajmal Amir Kasab’s death sentence in the Mumbai terror attack case. However, there was no sign of any allegation or reaction from Pakistan side during the meeting over Kasab’s death sentence.
