Press Council of India Chairman Markandey Katju once again became the target of BJP for his anti-Narendra Modi statement in Pakistan Daily. His attack on Modi sounds completely political while revealing the true picture of Gujarat.

Katju attempted to expose Modi through his recent article in Pakistan daily, The Express Tribune, by raising questions over the killings of thousands of Muslims in Gujarat after the Godhra train burning incident that triggered communal riots in 2002.

The former Supreme Court Judge took on Modi saying Muslims in Gujarat are living in fear and they have been victimised.

This is for the second time Katju dared to slam Modi, who is projected as the most powerful leader in saffron party and who has been lauded for his developmental policies in Gujarat.

He openly said that the saffron party poster boy was disliked by Indian Muslims. Among the minority, who are supporting Modi as their leader, their consent came out of fear.

He revealed the truth that Muslims fear if they speak out what had happened in 2002 riots. He also raised question on the development of Gujarat asking, should malnourished children of Gujarat eat Modi’s roads and factories?

Katju refuted Modi’s supporters’’ claim that Gujarat riots were out of ‘spontaneous reaction’ of Hindu community. He said that the Muslims were worst victim of the riots. Their homes were burnt, they were tortured and many lost their dear ones. The picture of riots could not be forgotten.

On Modi’s landmark win in the recent assembly polls, he said that it did not prove that he was liked by the mass. He won the elections and it was not surprise as everyone knows how polls are fought these days in India.

Reacting to Katju’s article, BJP demanded his resignation from his post. The saffron party said that the PCI chief wanted to enter the politics by giving such statements. Earlier, they had termed him as a Congress agent.
