Manoj Das donates Honorarium to CMRF

Manoj DasEminent writer Manoj Das donated the honorarium amount of Rs 10 lakh, which he had received as an adviser to two literary magazines published by Seashore Group, to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) of Odisha.

Mr. Das took the step after the media, particularly social media, questioned his integrity in association with the Seashore Group, which is under the CBI scanner and facing prosecution in the multi-crore chit fund scam. The chairman-cum-managing director of the Group, Prashant Das, is lodged in jail.

The litterateur had received Rs. 10 lakh over a period of 14 months to advice in the matters of ‘Sita Sakala’ and ‘Sahitya Pruthivi,’ two publications brought out by Seashore Sahitya Academy. Besides, his assistant was paid Rs. 45,000.

80 year old Manoj Das is a celebrated bilingual creative writer, who writes in Odia and English. He is bestowed with Padma Shri, Sahitya Akademi Fellowship, Saraswati Samman amongst others for his contribution in the field of literature.
