Jati and Janajati meet to be held on Dec 29 in Bhubaneswar

TNI Bureau: The state level meeting of Jati and Janajati of Odisha will be held at Rastrabhasa Prachar Samiti ground on December 29 in the state capital. The two-day meet is aimed at uniting hundreds of Janajatis living in various parts of the state, and to motivate them to join the main stream of the society.

Addressing a press meet at Redcross Bhavan here today, Arun Kumar Panda, President of Jati Janajati Sanskrutika Samaroha Samiti, said that attempts have been made to protect the culture and tradition of the tribal people. However, the social, economic and cultural development has not reached to the expected level due to international conspiracy, administration’s negligence and absence of social awareness. These are the reasons for which they are still neglected in the field of health and education.

He slammed the western culture, alleging that it is spoiling our cultural value. This is the society where thousands of innocent people are dying due to ethnic violence.

Mr Panda said that sincere efforts are being made by the Samiti to eradicate the differences and establish social harmony. Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Golakha Chandra Das, Samir Mohanty, Sri Binaya Kumar Bhuyan, and some key members of the Samiti were also present at the conference today.

As per agenda, the heads and chiefs of Jati and Janajati will attend the meeting on December 29 and 30. The meeting will begin at 11 am and cultural programme will be held at 6 pm. An exhibition will be feteaured on the daily life style of tribal people. A huge number of people will march towards Lower PMG where a rally will be held at 2 pm on December 30.

Honourable Home Minister of Dalai Lama, Sri Dalama Gayari, other renowned social activists-Dr. Krushna Gopalji, Mukund Rao Panasikar, Setu Mdhavan, Rajendraji and many religious leaders are expected to grace the occasion. Maharaja Dillip Singh Judev, M.P. of Madhya Pradesh along with other erstwhile Raja and Maharaja will also be present to glorify the occasion.
