Jamshed guides Pakistan Victory in Chennai ODI
TNI Bureau: Nasir Jamshed remained unbeaten on 101, as Pakistan defeated India by six wickets in the first ODI in Chennai to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Skipper Dhoni’s hundred went in vain, as India’s total of 227 was not enough to prevent Pakistan from pressing for a win.
Chasing a victory target of 228, Pakistan lost Hafeez off the first ball. Debutant Bhuvneshwar Kumar achieved the rare distinction of taking wicket in the first ball of his career as the opening bowler. He removed Azhar Ali too. But, Jamshed and Younis Khan added 112 runs for the third wicket to change the course of the game.
Younis Khan was out for 58. Shoaib Malik remained not out on 34. Jamshed remained unbeaten on 101. Pakistan reached 228/4 in 48.1 overs. Dhoni was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
