Delhi Child Rape: Second Accused arrested
The second accused in the brutal rape of a five-year-old girl was arrested from Bihar in the early hours on Monday. Police will investigate whether the claims made by the prime accused Manoj Kumar are true.
Pradeep was apprehended from Barahiya village in Bihar’s Lakhisarai. Delhi police with the help of Bihar police were able to nab the accused from his maternal uncle’s residence, where he was hiding after the after the crime.
He will be brought to Delhi today. The prime accused Manoj, who was arrested on Saturday from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, had taken Pradeep’s name during the police interrogation. He alleged that Pradeep was also involved in the crime.
The little girl was raped and assaulted in a locked room for 40 hours. She was in captivity in East Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar area. She was rescued on April 17. Manoj fled the room thinking the girl was dead.
Media reports said that Pradeep and Manoj had consumed alcohol together on April 15. It was Pardeep, who insisted Manoj to bring the girl to the house. Manoj lured the child with a chocolate and brought her to his room where she was raped brutally.
The gil is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS. Her condition is stable. The incident sparked a massive protest across the nation. Women protesters demanded the removal of Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar. Even they protested outside the police headquarters, the residence of Sonia Gandhi, and Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
