Achyuta Samanta eyes Delhi Glory

KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Science) is all set to start its first session of academic year in Delhi as the campus of this school is ready to function. Literally, this can be described as a new feather in the cap of its founder Dr Achutya Smanata as his organisation is the first from the state to open such a school exclusively for the educational needs of children from backward classes of the society.

Achyuta SamantaA mutual of understanding (MoU) was signed by KISS with the government in this regard. The agreement has been done between the Principal Secretary of SC/ST/OBC/minorities communities Lalmalswama and secretary of KISS R.N. Dash, in presence of Delhi Chief Minister, Shiela Dixit and Dr Achutya Samanta.

This adds a leaf in golden letters to the history of Odisha that a state based educational institution has opened its branch in the capital city of the nation. Moreover, the new institution will provide value based education to almost 1200 pupils belonging to backward classes in India. The infrastructure is being readied for the poorest pupils of the country on a war scale that will be the first ever school dedicated to the backward classes in the society to provide educational facility as per CBSE pattern.

In a rare gesture KISS will run the school on no-profit-no-loss basis as the entire expenditure of the school will be taken care by the government. In an unprecedented move, KISS has decided to impart education to 1200 students from various backward classes of the society. The sprawling school campus, built on 20 acres of plot in Najafgarh under the precincts of New Delhi municipality is ready to set a precedent in the annals of social service in India.

Sheila Dixit- the Chief Minister of New Delhi had earlier visited KISS campus at Bhubaneswar twice and was impressed by its noble work in providing care for the backward classes. She had voluntarily proposed for a campus at New Delhi. Founder of KISS, Achutya Samanta, has praised the initiatives provided by New Delhi’s Chief Minister to raise such a monumental organization, exclusively for the education of children from backward classes.

As a pragmatic step towards social equality, this joint venture between government and KISS, can be described as a marked achievement on the social front to remove the stigma of caste, creed and inequality. As education now-a-days by the schools has become extremely expensive, this only one of its kind privilege has only been possible due to the bold support by KISS.
