80 Odia Pilgrims Rescued in Uttarakhand

Eighty pilgrims have been rescued so far among several Odia people who were stranded in the flood-hit Uttarakhand. The victims’ family members took a long sigh of relief after knowing their whereabouts.

They were trapped in several parts of Uttarakhand. The rescue operations are still on. 40 helicopters were deployed in the service to rescue people who are hiding in mountains and forests out of fear.

Several others are still feared to have been trapped in various parts of the state after heavy rains and landslides triggered flood in Kedarnath, Rudra Prayag, Gauri Kund, and Badrinath areas. Hundreds of homes, guest houses, and buildings were ruined and thousands are still missing.

According to government reports, around 40 pilgrims from Paralakhemundi area in Gajapati district, 20 from Ganjam, 10 from Bhubaneswar, 25 from Jatani, 8 from Rengali in Sambalpur and 10 from Cuttack were stranded in the flood-hit Uttarakhand.
