20 stars performed for one track of ‘Bombay Talkies’

At least 20 Bollywood big stars, including the Khans and Kapoors, have performed for a single track in the upcoming movie ‘Bombay Talkies’. The film may be accounted as a historic one since not only a band of Bollywood biggies are sharing screen in the song, but 20 most renowned singers of the Industry, who normally sing (playback) for the respective actors, have lent their voice in the song. The movie has been slated to be released on 3rd May 2013 and it will also be screened at the Cannes film fest this year.

‘Bombay Talkies’, which celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema is an combination of four short films by four most sought after filmmakers from Bollywood – Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee and Karan Johar.

The song reportedly stars the top actors of Bollywood like – Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla other than Shahrukh, Aamir and Madhuri Dixit, Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee.

The song, titled ‘Apna Bombay talkies’, has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant and renowned singers of Bollywood like – Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, S.P. Balasubramaniam, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Sudesh Bhonsle, Shreya Ghosal, Shilpa Rao, Udit Narayan, KK and Sukhwinder Singh have reportedly lent their voice in the track.

Interestingly, the song has a certain dress code. While all the male actors have worn black tuxedos, the female actors have worn gold outfits, designed by their own stylists. It is also heard that it took around a month to complete shooting of the song since as all the actors shot for their parts independently.
